I have some vintage vacuum tube testers for sale, and are listed here on this page. Anyone who has a sizeable investment in vacuum tubes or vacuum tube hi-fi equipment owes it to themselves to have a good tube tester on hand to periodically check the tubes they are using. You can take a more active role in "tube rolling" as you can match your own pairs, and keep tabs on the tubes you are currently using and know well in advance of when replacement time is near.

Tube testers have been out of production since the late 1970s, and supplies are only fair at this time. The prices have been steadily on the rise, especially with the frenzied buying of certain vintage testers on eBay and other online auction sites. Some of these sell prices of certain brands and models are grossly inflated. Hopefully on this webpage I can present good vintage tube testers at reasonable prices, away from the frenzy of the online auctionplace.

When tube testers ruled the electronics world, it was a simple matter to get parts and accessories for them. Most owners, being technicians, liked to calibrate their testers themselves. Some testers, like certain models of Hickok brand for example, even used a "factory certified 6L6 calibration tube" as a reference standard. Hickok even made them available as a service part. Today they are virtually unavailable. It's a shame, too, since these handy reference tubes could be used to spot-check the accuracy of ANY brand of tube tester, not just the Hickoks. Other critical parts that have vanished are the punch cards and calibration "cells" for the Hickok Cardmatic series of tube testers. Many of these very well-built testers are still in service today. So what do you do for parts?

To answer these needs, we are making available carefully selected 6L6 Calibration Tubes that duplicate the function of the Hickok 6L6 reference tube. These hand selected NOS tubes can not only be used wherever the Hickok Reference 6L6 tube is called for in calibration procedures, but can also be used on ANY tube tester as a reference "new" 6L6 to check the accuracy of your tester. It is perfect for checking the results of your calibration on any brand of tester as well. It comes with full instructions and tips on it's use, and a reference sheet showing meter readings for that particular tube taken from a number of popular testers.

We are also making available, upon special request, custom made punch cards for the Hickok Cardmatic series. These are made from the same white polystyrene as the originals, and custom punched with an original Hickok punch press. They can be made for any tube that could be tested on the cardmatic testers. We can also supply the complete set of factory test cards needed for calibration of the entire cardmatic series including the 123, 123A, 123B, 1234R, USM-118 and the Western Electric KS-15874. Finally, we offer a custom made zener calibration cell for the Hickok 1234R, USM-118, and the Western Electric KS-15874 testers made by Hickok. These replace all of the original calibration cells, which actually should not be used since they contain a mercury battery which has likely gone weak or dead by now. They come with updated test cards and instructions for their use. All of these items are identical to originial Hickok parts and are professionally manufactured.
